WEBINAR DESCRIPTION |
|
No employer enjoys the prospect of having to fire someone or
make a large scale reduction in the workforce.
Sometimes, however, a troubled economy leaves us no
choice.
In the
current financial climate, employers who may need to downsize
should be aware of the potential legal risks involved in
terminations, and know how to take steps that will minimize
their exposure while permitting terminated workers to maintain
their dignity.
Employment attorney Joel Greenwald will review with you how your
company can terminate employees and reduce the risk of
successful litigation brought by those employees.
|
|
TOPICS TO BE
DISCUSSED |
-
Can you really fire someone without a reason?
-
What should be involved in the decision to
terminate?
-
Have you considered alternatives?
-
When you’ve made a decision, how quickly should
you act?
-
What are the biggest termination mistakes?
-
What documentation is needed to support a
termination?
-
What is the difference between a firing and a
layoff?
-
Decisions about severance and separation
agreements
-
Conducting and documenting the exit interview
