Description

Workplace violence is violence or the threat of violence against workers. It can occur at or outside the workplace and can range from verbal abuse to homicide. However, it manifests itself, workplace violence is a growing concern for employers and employees nationwide. The data reported by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and others regarding the magnitude of this problem in U.S. workplaces is astonishing.

Workplace violence is a safety problem. Some workers are at increased risk to become a victim of workplace violence but workplace violence can strike anywhere and at any time and in unexpected forms. No workplace or worker is immune to risk.

As the saying goes, plan for the worst and hope for the best. Every employer needs to periodically assess the risk factors and plan for the worst so if in their workplace violence does occur, employees and even customers and visitors will have their best chances of escaping harm. Additionally, employers should give thought to creating a workplace culture that shuns bullying, threating or abusive behavior. This webinar will help you assess your particular workplace for workplace violence protocols.

Teri Morning, MBA, MS, SHRM-SCP, specializes in solving company “people problems” and linking employee performance with compensation. Teri also sources software solutions for employee relations, compensation and performance management. Teri has over 15 years human resource and training experience in a variety of professional fields, including retail, distribution, architectural, engineering, consulting, manufacturing (union), public sector and both profit and non-profit company structures.

Teri has enjoyed consulting with employers on their problems and trained managers and employees for over 15 years, meeting and working with employees from all types of businesses. In addition to a MBA, Teri has a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development with a specialization in Conflict Management. She was certified by the State of Indiana in mediation skills, is certified in Project Management and IT Management, qualified as a Myers-Briggs practitioner and holds the SHRM certification of a Senior Certified Professional.
