Description

If it can happen at Starbucks, it can happen anywhere: misunderstanding that accelerates into an implicit bias claim.  As our workplaces become more and more diverse and people’s communication skills become less and less due to reliance on technology, the threat of communication blow-ups tinged with racial overtones continues to grow. In this webinar, Judi Clements helps human resource professionals, managers, and others take a fresh look at themselves and their workplaces with respect to potential implicit bias.

You will learn about this universal phenomenon: what it is, why it happens, how it happens, and when it is most likely to happen. Second, you see how it may impact the ways you interact with others and do your job. Finally, you’ll learn about the concept of microaggressions and some ways to help reduce bias in your workplace.

Agenda

  • How do we see and experience the world in ways that can be tinged with unconscious, implicit bias?
  • How can we identify implicit bias and microaggressions in the workplace and beyond?
  • How can we help employees increase their sense of bias and plan for continued awareness?
  • How can we infuse our workplace with a culture of tolerance and take steps to avoid implicit bias in hiring, discipline, performance appraisal, & other workplace activities?
