Learn how to properly forecast for unplanned overtime.

Unplanned overtime, overtime which occurs and must be paid regardless if budgeted or approved in advance, has become a major concern for organizations across the country. It directly impacts all organizations in terms of both financial impact and, more importantly, employee relations impact.

Research points to the fact that since the last recession of 2008 - 2009, many organizations and the strategic decision not to replace laid-off staff but to face growth in the need for products and services with a smaller workforce. Their answer was to pay those employed increased overtime thus keeping their employee staff compliance in check. However, many of these same organizations are finding it more difficult to budget for these overtime expenses.

In addition, many have now experienced increased absenteeism and turnover often related to the stress of having to work overtime to meet production and/or service delivery.
