The increase in laws that require businesses to encourage
employees to report suspected breaches of laws and regulations
and to comply with business codes of conduct mean that ethical
reporting and whistleblower hotlines are a business norm.
However a “one size fits all” approach to implementation does
not work and many businesses have suffered investigations,
audits, fines and even litigation in the EU because they have
failed to recognize the different approaches to compliance in
the various EU member states.
While Codes of Conduct or Codes of Ethics usually require staff
and contractors to report issues or concerns that may relate to
fraud, bribery, and other similar events in the workplace, in
the EU there are data protection and related laws and
regulations that may be in direct conflict with such reporting
or disclosure.
This 60-minute presentation will help you understand the
significant differences within the EU member states in relation
to the way in which ethical/whistleblower hotlines can be
implemented within a multinational organization.
Learning Objectives:
-
How to balance compliance with SOX, FCPA,
Dodd-Frank on the one hand and EU data
protection laws on the other?
-
How to build a whistleblower program to comply
with EU laws?
-

EU.
